Le Mont-Saint-Michel se trouve près des côtes normandes. Cet îlot rocheux, dominé par une magnifique abbaye construite en l’honneur de Saint-Michel, est surnommé « la Merveille de l’Occident ». Le Mont-Saint-Michel a une longue histoire. Du VIIIe au XVe siècle, c’est un important centre religieux, visité par de nombreux pèlerins. Malheureusement, cet âge d’or ne dure pas et au moment de la Révolution française, le Mont-Saint-Michel devient une prison. Depuis 1874, il est inscrit sur la liste des monuments historiques de France.
The Mont-Saint-Michel is located near the Normandy coast. This rock islet, with its magnificent towering Abbey, built in honour of Saint Michael, is nicknamed 'The wonder of the West'. The Mont-Saint-Michel has a long history. Between the VIIIth and XVth centuries, it was an important religious centre visited by many pilgrims. Unfortunately, this golden age didn't last and at the time of the French Revolution it became a jail. Since 1874, it has been listed on the French register of historical monuments.
