Adverbs in French

What is an adverb?
An adverb modifies or qualifies the meaning of a verb, and is a good way to add detail to a sentence. Most adverbs in French end in -ment, but there are some exceptions, in particular for the most common adverbs, such as adverbs of place and frequency.
The different type of adverbs are listed below, but first, here are a few examples of adverbs in sentences:
Ma sœur mange trop lentement et mon frère mange trop vite - My sister eats too slowly and my brother eats too quickly
C'est un garçon très bien élevé - He is a very well behaved boy
Malheureusement, il n'y a plus de réservations - Unfortunately, there are no reservations left

- Jamais - Ever
- Rarement - Rarely
- Habituellement - Usually
- Souvent - Often
- Parfois - Sometimes
Adverbs of time
- Ensuite - Then
- Plus tard - Later
- Maintenant - Now
- Hier - Yesterday
- Demain - Tomorrow
- Aujourd'hui - Today
- Longtemps - For a long time
Adverbs of quantity
- Beaucoup - A lot
- Un peu - A little
- Trop - Too much
- Assez - Enough
- Plus - More
- Moins - Less
Adverbs of place
- Ici - Here
- Là - There
- Partout - Everywhere
- Nulle part - Nowhere
- Loin - Far
- Près - Near
