FAQ
What's the difference between the conversation club and speaking practice classes?
French Conversation Club is perfect for learners who want to build fluency, confidence, and real-life communication skills through immersive, spontaneous conversation in a relaxed setting.
Speaking Practice Classes are ideal for those seeking focussed speaking support through structured activities—especially when following Alexa’s online courses.
Do I need to prepare anything in advance?
No preparation is required. Your tutor may suggest optional prompts, but all you need is your enthusiasm and willingness to speak French!
Will grammar be corrected during the session?
Yes, teachers will offer correction during the sessions. The focus is on fluency and confidence, but your teacher will offer corrections to refine your speaking.
How is the Intermediate (B1) different from the Advanced (B2+)?
- B1 sessions focus on building confidence with speaking, improving pronunciation, and expanding everyday vocabulary.
-
B2+ sessions explore deeper topics, with more emphasis on advanced vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and natural phrasing.
Do I have to speak entirely in French?
Yes! We aim for full immersion, but your tutor will support you if you need help expressing something. It's a safe space to make mistakes and learn.
How many people are in each group?
We keep it small—maximum 6 participants per session—so everyone has plenty of time to speak.
What if I miss a session?
If you miss a session, we’re unable to offer a replacement or refund, but you’ll still receive any key vocabulary or discussion notes shared by the teacher (if available), so you can stay on track.
Can I switch levels if needed?
Yes, you can request to switch levels, but only before the second session. Each block runs for just 5 weekly sessions, and group sizes are limited to 6 participants, so any changes depend on availability in the other group. If you or the teacher feel a different level is a better fit, we’ll do our best to accommodate the switch before the second session.
Are the conversation club sessions led by Alexa Polidoro?
No, the Conversation Club sessions are not led by Alexa Polidoro. They are run by one of our expert native French teachers who are part of the Learn French with Alexa team.
