How good does my French need to be to start Alexa's Complete French Course?

Posted by Josh on 19th Feb 2025 in the blog in the frequently asked questions category

At Learn French With Alexa, we believe every French learner’s journey is different - and not every journey begins in the same place. Some of our learners are complete beginners. Some learnt French at school but aren’t sure exactly how much they remember, while others already know their fair share of French but wish to accelerate their learning with the help of a structured course and engaging content.

How about you? Are you just starting out on the path towards proficiency? Or are you a seasoned expert in la langue de l’amour? Maybe you’re somewhere in between?

Whatever your answer, the good news is that it doesn’t matter!

What makes Alexa's Complete French Course so unique is that you can jump right in whatever your level.

While other online courses require you to start from scratch, or to stick within a single module of the CEFR, all 40 Core Lessons and supplementary content, from A1 to C2, are automatically available to all subscribers. That means you can dive into whichever lesson you want as soon as you begin the course. While the website does track your progress, this is purely to help you orient yourself and remember where you left off. You don’t need to complete any of the assessments or quizzes to unlock access to the next lessons, and you can take the end-of-level assessments or CPD examinations whenever you feel ready. The assessments are designed to allow you to put what you've learned to the test, while the CPD examinations are official tests and will provide you with certification upon completion.

If you’re not sure what level you are, feel free to test your level with this short quiz.
