Blog French Level

Test your French level now!

I was sitting in front of my computer today wondering what to write on my blog this week.

Should I write a poem in French? Post a funny YouTube video? Record myself saying weird and quirky French words? Should I water my plants now or later? Bake a cake? Learn how to weave? (Well, this one has nothing to do with anything I know but I have always aspired to make my own rug).

Anyway, after many hours of day dreaming on how to make the world a better place, I finally settled on the idea of creating a quiz: a quiz which should allow you to gauge your level in French. And, dadaa, here it is!

Ok before you start please promise me you won't look at the answers below! That would be cheating and won't really tell you what level you are in French. Try to answer every question (don't answer them randomly as this will give you a false idea of your level), then look at the answers below and count the number of points you scored.

Bonne chance!

Let me know your score and I will proudly display the highest score on my next blog entry and, you never know, I might even give you a special award!

Hilarious English to French Movie Title Translations

Posted on by Nancy in the french culture category

I grew up in a francophone household. All the movies we watched were translated into French. The translated titles were very interesting even then, before I knew they were not the originals. I was eleven years old when I discovered that Maman j'ai raté l'avion (Mum, I missed the plane) and Maman je m'occupe des méchants (Mum, I'm taking care of the bad guys) were actually the same movies as Home alone one, two and three to all my anglophone school friends.
